PsiControl opens new production facility in Romania

EUR 12 million investment and 84 new vacancies for further growth

Today, PsiControl (a subsidiary of Picanol Group, Euronext: PIC) officially opened its new production facility in Râșnov (Brașov, Romania). The opening took place in the presence of Mr. Liviu Butnariu, Mayor of Râșnov, Mr. Adrian Vestea, President of the Provincial Council, and Mr. Cătălin Mihai Văsii, Governor of Brașov Province. PsiControl, which has been active in Romania since 2006 with its own production plant, decided in 2018 to invest in a new plant comprising 11,000 square meters of floor space. With the investment in a new production facility and additional investments in, among other things, two new SMD lines and IT systems - which in total amount to 12 million EUR - PsiControl is resolutely aiming for further growth and ensuring a sustainable anchoring in Romania. In order to facilitate this growth, PsiControl currently has 84 vacancies at its site in Râșnov.

PsiControl, headquartered in Ieper (Belgium), is part of Picanol Group, a diversified industrial group active in, among other things, machine construction, agriculture, food and energy. PsiControl focuses on the design, development, production and support of custom-made controllers and electronics production. PsiControl's activities in Romania have experienced considerable growth in recent years, with the tandem of the Romanian site in Râșnov and the Belgian site in Ieper proving to be an important asset for the company. The workforce in Romania has grown from just 10 employees in 2006 to 300 employees in 2022.

Total investment of EUR 12 million

The new 11,000 square meter building consists of three parts: a production hall, a warehouse, and office space, and it is located on a 40,000 square meter site in Râșnov. The new production facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. In addition, PsiControl is also investing in two new SMD lines for manufacturing electronic products, increasing its component placement capacity to 600 million components by the end of 2022. The new investments amount to a total of 12 million EUR.

The investment in a new production facility in Romania is in line with PsiControl's growth plans aimed at further expansion in Romania. "With our new production facility, we can offer our customers an even more extensive range of services. Our activities in Romania include Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), PCB assembly, module assembly, logistics procurement, and local sourcing. We are currently executing a number of projects for international customers such as Atlas Copco, Picanol, Sennheiser, Agfa HealthCare, and Vaillant," said Cathy Defoor (Vice President PsiControl).

84 new vacancies

PsiControl currently employs 300 people in Romania, 32 of whom were hired this year. Based on the current market situation and the start-up of many new projects, PsiControl expects another 84 positions to be filled in the coming months. For instance, it is currently looking for operators for fittings and assembly and technical profiles such as industrialization engineers, electronics specialists, test engineers, and IT officers.
